How far is O2 Head Spa from Temple City?
About 5 minutes by car. O2 Head & Beauty Spa is at 1432 S Baldwin Ave in Arcadia, roughly 1.5 miles from Temple City City Hall on Las Tunas Drive, which makes a head spa near Temple City something you can fit into a weekday the way you would a haircut.
From Las Tunas Drive, head north on Baldwin Avenue for a little over a mile. You cross Camino Real Avenue and the spa is about 0.1 miles further on. If you reach Duarte Road and the Vons center, you have gone about 0.2 miles too far. From the Rosemead Boulevard end of town, allow a few minutes more.
Because the trip is short, a visit slots into errands you already run. The Arcadia Hub center with Vons sits at that same Duarte Road corner, so the grocery stop before or after costs no detour.
Package D: a 60 minute head spa near Temple City
Package D · Classic Scalp Treatment is the shortest head spa on the menu and the one that suits a regular slot. It runs 60 minutes, and the booking page lists eight parts:
The scalp analysis, before and after
The analysis happens at both ends of the session, so your scalp before the cleansing can be compared with your scalp after it. Ask what the therapist noticed and what to keep an eye on at home, and mention anything that has changed since your last visit, such as a new shampoo, a scalp that turns oily earlier in the day, or more hair in the brush. If it turns up something that worries you, such as patchy hair loss or a rash, take that to a dermatologist.
What the hour leaves out
Hair growth / strengthening nourishment and the phototherapy meridian comb start at Package C, which runs 75 minutes. The longer upper-body massage and the mini facial option belong to Package B, and the back and leg massage with hot stones to Package A. Package D keeps the core of the treatment, which is why it fits in an hour.
That also makes it the easiest package to repeat. It is the lowest price of the four, it fits more of the week, and every visit ends with the same before-and-after comparison, so one appointment can be set against the last.
- Pre and post scalp analysis comparison
- Aromatherapy oil massage
- Head, neck, shoulder and arms massage
- Deep scalp cleansing
- Waterfall hydrotherapy and meridian therapy
- Nano steam therapy
- Scalp serum spray
- High frequency ozone comb therapy
Can you fit a head spa into a lunch break or after work?
After work, easily; at lunch, only if your break runs long. The session is 60 minutes and the drive is short each way, so a visit takes a little over an hour and a quarter once you count checking in and getting back to the car.
At lunch
A standard one hour lunch break will not hold it, but a long lunch, a late start or a half day will. If you work along Las Tunas Drive, the run up Baldwin is short enough that nearly all of that time goes to the session itself. The doors open at 10 AM, so a session can also go before work if your day starts late.
After work
The spa closes at 8 PM every day, and the booking page shows the latest slot for a 60 minute session. Your hair is washed during the session, so if you are going out afterwards, ask when you book whether there is time to dry it. The booking page shows which evening times are open, and the phone is quicker when you already have a time in mind.
On weekends
Saturday and Sunday keep the same 10 AM to 8 PM hours, so a standing weekend slot works just as well when weekdays are full. A regular time, whether a Tuesday evening or a Sunday morning, is easier to keep than one you have to find fresh each month.
How often do people come back for a head spa?
There is no fixed rule, and the menu does not set one. How often you book comes down to your scalp, your budget and how the last visit felt, and the before-and-after analysis gives you something concrete to compare from one visit to the next.
One practical approach is to book the next visit as you leave, then move it if your scalp still feels fine when the date comes round. Jot down what the therapist said about the analysis each time, so you can tell whether anything is changing.
The research on frequency is thin. In one small study, Koyama and colleagues (2016) gave nine men 4 minutes of scalp massage a day with a handheld device for 24 weeks, and their hair thickness rose from 0.085 mm to 0.092 mm. That was a daily home routine, so it says little about how often to book a spa session and nothing about regrowth. Our page on the evidence on scalp massage and hair growth goes through it in more detail.
Most scalp care happens at home between visits. For dandruff, the American Academy of Dermatology suggests a dandruff shampoo about twice a week for fine or straight hair or an oily scalp, and about once a week for coarse, curly or coily hair. The ingredients it lists are zinc pyrithione, salicylic acid, sulfur, selenium sulfide, ketoconazole and coal tar. A head spa, however often you book it, sits on top of that routine.
If flaking, itching or shedding keeps coming back, see a dermatologist. A head spa may help your scalp feel clean and calm, but it does not treat a scalp condition.
What does Package D cost?
Package D is $156 at the regular rate and $78 at the member rate. On all four head spa packages the member rate is half the regular one, which matters most for a session you plan to repeat.
The booking page lists both rates but not how membership is sold, so ask the front desk how membership works, what it costs and how long it runs before you count on the lower price. If you plan to come back regularly, the gap between the two rates adds up quickly, so ask before your second visit rather than after your tenth.
When you have more than an hour, Package C adds 15 minutes, the hair growth / strengthening nourishment and the phototherapy meridian comb, at $176 regular or $88 member.
How is O2 different from an herbal-wash head spa?
O2 works with water, steam and a comb device, where an herbal-wash head spa works with rounds of herbal tea. Temple City is one of the four cities where the LA Times found most of the area's head spas in February 2024, and its well-known herbal-wash spa is Tou Dao Tang, whose first U.S. location opened on Las Tunas Drive in 2022. The paper described its classic treatment as five rounds of washing with herbal teas. O2's Package D has no herbal wash and lists these steps instead:
Which format suits you
Neither approach is the better one in general. If you like an herbal wash, Temple City has it a few minutes from home; if the waterfall arch and the steam are what you are after, that is what Package D does. Our comparison of head spa styles in the San Gabriel Valley sets herbal, scalp-tech and waterfall formats side by side.
Whichever format you are used to, tell the therapist how warm you like the water and how firm you like the scalp massage. The head spa basin has a digital temperature display, so speak up if the water feels too hot or too cool.
- Waterfall hydrotherapy: water falls from an arch over the basin onto the scalp, paired on the menu with meridian therapy.
- Meridian therapy, named for the meridians of traditional Chinese medicine. Our guide to tui na and acupressure explains how that kind of bodywork is described.
- Nano steam therapy, which appears in every package on the menu.
- High frequency ozone comb therapy.
- A scalp analysis at the start and again at the end, compared side by side.
What else fits in 60 minutes, on another day?
The 60 minute Customized Facial is the natural second visit, at $136 regular or $68 member. Booking it on a different day keeps each visit to about an hour, which is the point of having the spa this close.
The facial covers deep cleansing, gentle exfoliation, steam, a facial massage, one skin solution (hydrating, brightening or anti-aging), serum infusion and skin barrier repair, a customized mask, a hand massage and SPF in the daytime. Our guide to facials in Arcadia compares it with the three longer facials. If you would rather do both at once, Package B runs 90 minutes and lets you choose a mini facial as its add-on.
The two pain relief sessions also run 60 minutes. The booking page lists them by name without a description, so ask the front desk what each involves before you book one.
| Session | Regular | Member | What it is |
|---|---|---|---|
| Package D · Classic Scalp Treatment | $156 | $78 | Scalp analysis, deep cleansing, waterfall hydrotherapy, nano steam and the ozone comb |
| Customized Facial | $136 | $68 | Cleanse, exfoliate and steam, then one skin solution, a serum and a mask |
| Pain Relief: Targeted Treatment | $120 | $80 | Pain relief massage focused on one problem area |
| Pain Relief: Full-Body Treatment | $188 | $90 | Pain relief massage that works the whole body |
Questions people ask
How far is O2 Head & Beauty Spa from Temple City?
About 5 minutes by car, roughly 1.5 miles from Temple City City Hall. From Las Tunas Drive, head north on Baldwin Avenue for a little over a mile to 1432 S Baldwin Ave in Arcadia.
What is the latest I can book a head spa after work?
The spa is open until 8 PM every day. The booking page shows which evening times are still open for a 60 minute Package D, or call (626) 857-6608.
What does the before-and-after scalp analysis involve?
The therapist looks at your scalp at the start of the session and again at the end, then compares the two. Ask what they noticed and what to watch at home. Anything that looks like a medical problem, such as patchy hair loss or a persistent rash, belongs with a dermatologist.
Does O2 offer an herbal head wash?
The menu does not list one. O2's packages use deep scalp cleansing, waterfall hydrotherapy with meridian therapy, nano steam and a high frequency ozone comb. Temple City has head spas that specialize in herbal washing if that is the format you want.
How often should I get a head spa?
There is no set rule. Book again when your scalp starts to feel the way it did before the last visit, and use the before-and-after analysis to compare. If flaking, itching or shedding keeps returning, see a dermatologist rather than booking more often.
Is the 60 minute Package D enough for a first visit?
Yes. It includes every core step: the scalp analysis, deep cleansing, waterfall hydrotherapy, nano steam, serum spray and the ozone comb. It is $156 at the regular rate or $78 at the member rate; ask the front desk how membership works.
Can I get a facial and a head spa in one visit?
Package B runs 90 minutes and lets you choose a mini facial as its add-on, for $196 regular or $98 member. A full facial is booked separately; the 60 minute Customized Facial is $136 regular or $68 member.
